The Hydrogen Strategy Deployment Conference attracted the participation of many representatives from businesses, localities, and experts in the energy field. The conference was an important forum to discuss solutions and specific roadmaps for the effective implementation of Vietnam's Hydrogen Energy Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2050.

Mr. Hoang Tien Dung, Director of the Electricity and Renewable Energy Department, emphasized the strategic significance of transitioning from fossil fuels to hydrogen in Vietnam's energy transformation process. This shift, he said, would play a crucial role in reducing greenhouse gas emissions, protecting the environment, and addressing climate change.

Mr. Ly Quoc Hung, Head of the Department of Science and Technology, echoed Mr. Dung's sentiment, stressing the need for intensified efforts to promote and disseminate the Hydrogen Strategy. He further highlighted the importance of finalizing relevant standards and technical specifications for hydrogen production, use, storage, transportation, and carbon capture and utilization (CCUS) technologies.

Mr. Tran Trung Duc, representing the Department of Industrial and Service Economy (Ministry of Planning and Investment), proposed two key tasks:

    1. Coordinating with other agencies and ministries to establish a robust policy framework that fosters the development of hydrogen energy. He emphasized close collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Trade in this endeavor.
    2. Studying and proposing to the competent authorities the adoption of regulations outlining the decision-making authority regarding investment policies for offshore wind power projects devoted to hydrogen production.

Mr. Pham Van Tan, Deputy Director of the Department of Climate Change (Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment), commended the timeliness of the Hydrogen Strategy. He lauded its alignment with global development trends and its potential to contribute to Vietnam's fulfillment of its international climate change commitments.

In addition to these general remarks, representatives from businesses and localities offered specific proposals and recommendations.

Mr. Vu Hong Duong, Deputy Director of the Department of Industry and Trade of Tra Vinh Province, advocated for increased investment in green hydrogen alongside accelerated implementation of green hydrogen projects within the province.

Mr. Ha Dang Son, representative of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), reaffirmed their commitment to supporting green hydrogen investors, thus contributing to the industry's growth in Vietnam.

Mr. Ngo Son Hai, Deputy General Director of the Electricity Corporation of Vietnam (EVN), outlined EVN's focus on researching and implementing solutions for energy conversion at power plants, including the utilization of hydrogen.

The Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group (PVN) shared its goal of collaborating on the transition from gray to green hydrogen, while also promoting research and application of cutting-edge technologies in hydrogen production and use.

Mr. Dang Thanh Hai, General Director of the Vietnam Coal and Minerals Group (TKV), proposed spearheading pioneering projects in the hydrogen field to create practical models for future widespread adoption.

The Vietnam Chemicals Group pledged to dedicate efforts to researching and applying green hydrogen production technologies to address energy demands across various sectors and industries.

Ms. Huynh Thi Kim Quyen, Founder and CEO of The Green Solution, underscored Vietnam's significant potential in green energy and proposed solutions to attract investment and stimulate the green hydrogen industry's development.

The Hydrogen Strategy Deployment Conference collected valuable input from businesses, localities, and experts. These contributions will serve as a crucial foundation for finalizing and effectively implementing the Hydrogen Strategy, ultimately propelling Vietnam towards becoming a leader in the field of renewable energy and sustainable development.
